About the Event
Soroptimist International of Simi Valley invites the community to a powerful Human Trafficking Awareness Forum focused on one of the fastest-growing crimes in the nation and its impact on Simi Valley and Ventura County.
This year’s panel brings together leaders on the front lines of prevention, justice, and survivor advocacy, including Rebecca Bender, nationally recognized activist, survivor, and CEO of the Rebecca Bender Initiative; Steve Shorts, Chief of Police for the Simi Valley Police Department; Detective Jamal Labbe of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office Special Crimes Unit and Human Trafficking Task Force; Twyla Atmore, Deputy District Attorney with the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office; and Shannon Sergey, Founder and CEO of Forever Found. Attendees will also hear directly from a trafficking survivor.
