Wake Up - A Human Trafficking Awareness Event

Soroptimist Simi Valley is pleased to host a showing of "Wake Up," a film dedicated to spreading awareness of the human trafficking epidemic.

Human trafficking is a complex, organized criminal activity. It is not just an international, national or state problem. It's a Ventura County problem. Crime victims are often misidentified as crime perpetrators. Misidentification such as prostitution and child abuse, domestic abuse, unsafe working conditions, and human smuggling. Human trafficking generates 3.2 billion dollars annually, enslaving over 30 million people worldwide. Half of them are children.
