Chief of Police, Simi Valley Police Dept.
Steve worked for the Los Angeles City Park Rangers for more than 12 1/2 years. He achieved the rank of Interim Chief Park Ranger during his Park Ranger career. In March 2001, Steve lateral transferred to the Simi Valley Police Department.
As an Officer, he worked assignments in the Patrol Unit and Special Problems Section (Gang Suppression Unit).
In 2006, Steve promoted to Senior Officer and had assignments as a Field Training Officer in the Patrol Unit and as a Background Investigation Detective in the Auxiliary Services Unit. Steve became a Property Crimes Detective in 2012, where he served until he promoted to the rank of Sergeant in 2013. As a Sergeant, Steve held assignments such as Patrol Sergeant and Community Services Sergeant, where he was the Department’s Public Information Officer and supervised the Homeless Liaison Officers Unit, School Resource Officer Unit, and coordinated the Community Engagement and Outreach programs.
Steve promoted to Commander in January 2019. As a Commander, he served as the Public Relations Bureau Manager and the Chief’s Executive Officer. In November 2021, Steve promoted to the rank of Assistant Police Chief. As the Assistant Police Chief, he was responsible for running the day-to-day operational and administrative activities of the Department. On January 30, 2023, Steve promoted to the rank of Chief of Police.
Steve has an Associate of Arts Degree in Administration of Justice from Santa Monica College. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Studies and his Master’s Degree in Emergency Services Administration from California State University Long Beach.
Steve and his wife, Kristen, live in Ventura County with their son and two daughters.
