We are so excited to celebrate our founding President, Debbie Thomas, for her recent recognition as Simi Valley's City Council's 2020 Community Volunteer of the Year Award. Not surprisingly, she was selected because of her spirit of volunteerism and the immense amount of time and energy she dedicates to others, serving as an inspiration to the entire community.
A representative of the city council stated, "Debbie is the Founder and active member of the volunteer-based nonprofit Soroptimist International Simi Valley, which empowers women within our community, and helped create the Simi Cares Foundation, to assist various local organizations in critical need of financial support. Debbie coordinated a charity event to help find a life-saving kidney for a person in need, and served as a volunteer judge with the Boys and Girls Club to present its' Youth of the Year Award in 2019, among countless other instances of service."
We know that if we were to list all of the accomplishments Debbie has achieved as a resident of Simi Valley, the list would go on indefinitely. Congratulations, Debbie!
